Grapefruit Beermosa

Grapefruit Beermosa

It has been above zero for a few days and I was feeling a little springy. The warmer air, especially after an asinine deep freeze of a week of minus 40, had me craving something light, refreshing and citrusy. The Grapefruit Beermosa did just all of that. Using beer to make a cocktail is something I have enjoyed playing around with, such as this Cherry Lime Beer-Aid.

Cherry Lime Beer-Aid

Cherry Lime Beer-Aid

It is especially easy to turn a beer into a refreshing, boozy, summer cocktail.  When I picked up the Patio Tart Cherry Ale, made by Medicine Hat Brewing Company, I loved the beer on its own, but thought immediately it would be perfect in a cocktail – and that is how the Cherry Lime Beer-Aid came to be! It is like a lime-aid with vodka and beer! Super simple to make, especially if you already have some simple syrup handy,…

Pale Ale Grainy Beer Mustard

Pale Ale Grainy Beer Mustard

Want to make a super simple recipe that will wow your friends and family!? Make your own beer mustard! I’m actually a little annoyed at how easy this was because if I knew then what I know now, I would have been making beer mustard for a while now! Now that I have tried pale ale beer I want to make some more beer mustard but with stouts and porters or make a spicy beer mustard. But for today, I…

IPA Simple Syrup Grapefruit Cocktail

IPA Simple Syrup Grapefruit Cocktail

I really like craft beer, in case you didn’t know that about me already! My favourite characteristic of craft beer is that the ingredients are usually hand selected, specifically picked to create a certain flavour characteristic. This end goal flavour characteristic is what brings me back to trying new craft beers all the time. One ingredient in beer is hops. Hops will give beer that bitter taste but also can add a level of citrus, floral, herbal or grassy type…

Guacamole ~ Quick and Easy!

Guacamole ~ Quick and Easy!

Guacamole is crazy easy to make; I make it all the time in minutes and it tastes amazing with chips, on a burger, or stuffed in chicken. Usually I make guacamole just for chip dipping, but this batch is for my guacamole stuffed chicken! You only need five ingredients to make a tasty guacamole, and it is ready literally in minutes. But if you make it and let it sit in the fridge for a couple hours (if you can…

Grilled Ham and Cheese Bites

Grilled Ham and Cheese Bites

A lot of the time my inspiration to create a recipe comes from looking at leftovers in the fridge; much like these grilled ham and cheese bites. I had half a tub of cream cheese, half a package of prosciutto ham and half a baguette to use up. Yes, these grilled ham and cheese bites are a bit different than your standard grilled cheese sandwich! They are a little more on the creamy side from the cream cheese and salty from the prosciutto;…

Lime Basil No Churn Ice Cream

Lime Basil No Churn Ice Cream

It’s September now, and that, for some, is a sign of summer’s end. I know that for me, I am starting to think about putting away the patio chairs and mowing the grass once or twice more before the snow comes. Also my closet is starting to shift from capris and light t-shirts, to long sleeves, pants and back into boots. But summer isn’t completely over yet and that’s why I am pushing out one more summer recipe; one being this awesome lime basil…

Rhubarb Fig Ginger Marmalade

Rhubarb Fig Ginger Marmalade

Not everything you make with rhubarb has to be sweet, such as in a rhubarb barbecue sauce like this. This rhubarb fig ginger marmalade I have created is sweet, but not the dessert type of sweet. It goes great on grilled pork or chicken, but I like it best with goat cheese on a crostini. It’s very simple to make and you can preserve it in mason jars to keep it on your shelf for a long time.
