Cinnamon Bourbon Toddy
It is spring. But nights are still cold and our heater is running full every evening. Here in Alberta not only are the nights still chilly, but we also just encountered our first spring snow storm, on the first full day of spring. This is rather typical of Alberta weather and we easily could get one, two or maybe three more snowfalls before spring really sets in. A cinnamon bourbon toddy was the perfect remedy for such snowy day and luckily I just happened to have cinnamon simple syrup still stashed away!
I am not a heavy bourbon drinker. In fact I don’t actually drink much of it at all. Instead you will find me cooking or baking with it more, like in bacon bourbon chocolate cupcakes! But the snow and chilly weather called for a drink that could warm you up from the inside out and this cinnamon bourbon toddy did the trick!
Cinnamon Bourbon Toddy
Eric really enjoyed this cinnamon bourbon toddy a lot and I think it will become a bit of a regular winter (or spring storm) type of drink!
Start off by cutting a lemon in half and squeeze the lemon juice into a tumbler or short glass.
Add in 2 ounces of your choice of bourbon or whatever you have on hand.
Add in 3 – 4 tablespoons of the cinnamon simple syrup and top up with boiling hot water. Stir well with a bar mixing spoon.
Garnish with a lemon wheel and cinnamon stick, and warm up with your cinnamon bourbon toddy by the fire!

It is so wet and grey here today. This is exactly what I want right now.
It’s pretty chilly and grey here too – perfect remedy, I agree!!
I love a good bourbon drink! It’s not chilly down here in Texas, but that’s okay!
Mmm, talk about a drink that will warm you up! Love a good toddy:)
I’m like you, I’m more likely to bake with alcohol than drink it, but I do enjoy a good hot toddy when I’m feeling under the weather. Making it with a cinnamon simple syrup is genius! I am absolutely giving this one a try!
It’s cold and drizzly here in Phoenix today so this sounds wonderful!!! I love the cinnamon addition!
The perfect drink for a rainy day. Especially when you have nowhere to go. 🙂
Yeah, I think it’s a good drink even if it isn’t chilly! 🙂
Warms you right up! 🙂
I do prefer to cook or bake with bourbon, but this toddy was surprisingly not boozy tasting – which could be quite dangerous! haha!
Thanks! The cinnamon sure adds another level!
Agreed!!
