The Brewery
The star ingredient in this bread comes from the Grizzly Paw Pub & Brewing Company in Canmore, Alberta. Nestled in the heart of the Rockies, this brewery is a great stop for locals and tourists alike. Whether you enjoy their brews at the downtown pub, dine at Tank310 with a mountain view, or stop by the tasting room, you’ll experience their dedication to crafting flavourful and unique beers. Find out more about Grizzly Paw Pub & Brewing Company on their website, Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter/X.
The Beer
For this recipe, I used Grizzly Paw’s Jack O’Lantern Pumpkin Ale. It pours a beautiful maple brown and greets you with a sweet and spicy aroma. Think earthy pumpkin with a dash of fall spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove. Its smooth and slightly grainy texture pairs perfectly with the apples in this bread, adding depth to every bite. The pumpkin ale complements the bread’s warm, spiced flavours, making it an ideal treat for cool fall days.

- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 eggs
- 7 oz pumpkin ale

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix in the egg and beer mixture until smooth. Add the olive oil and mix again.
Fold in the apple mixture and transfer the batter to your prepared loaf pan.

Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean.
Let the bread cool for 5-10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice, serve, and enjoy with your favourite local fall brew!
