English Mild Beer Bread
A beer bread is an easier type of bread to make where you don’t have to knead it or let it rise. It comes out a bit more cake-like, but also tasty and …bready! The English Mild Beer Bread took me literally 10 mins to make and then an hour in the oven. The beer has yeast in it that helps the bread rise, which is why you don’t need to add any! Science! Pretty neat!

The Brewery
The English Dark Milk Beer Bread uses an English dark mild beer from Cabin Brewing, and brewery in Calgary, Alberta that I have been able to visit! Taken right from their website, the humble cabin represents the ultimate escape. A home away from home. A respite from the stresses of work and the regularity of everyday life. A place to be yourself. Cabin Brewing Company embodies that feeling. It is a place to make new memories. It is your new special place. Relax. Take a deep breath. Drink great beer.
They have three core beers: Supersaturation, a New England Pale Ale; Retrospectrum, a Pale Ale; and Sunshine Rain, an IPA. Simple Pleasures, the English Mild used in this English Mild Beer Bread is a seasonal rotation beer. Find out more about Cabin Brewing and their beers on their website, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

The Beer
The English Mild Beer Bread uses Simple Pleasures from Cabin Brewing, an English Mild Beer. This is a light beer at 3.8% ABV, pouring a nice dark clear brown with some foamy, off-white head. The smell and taste is of light chocolate, nuts, caramel, light roast, raisins, and plum fruit. It is a smooth, medium-bodied, medium-carbonated beer with some lingering roasty malts and cocoa. If I were drinking a pint in England, this is the malt-forward session ale that I would expect!

I made bread with beer before, with Guinness. It is delicious. Lovely to see someone else baking with beer.
