Welcome to Chews and Brews – my food and craft beer blog, established in 2015!  My name is Cassandrea; that’s “Cass” + “Andrea”. I feel I have to explain this because my name is mispronounced so often. I am writing from Alberta, Canada!

Chews and Brews is a food and craft beer blog that allows readers a seat at my kitchen table with a small beer tasting too! The recipes I share will include a craft beer local to me in the recipe. I will tell you a little about the brewery, the beer, and then of course the recipe. Right now, most beers will be from Alberta only, but I plan on adding more beers from other provinces and territories, depending on what I can access!

I love using fresh ingredients and cooking from scratch with as few processed ingredients as possible. A lot of my recipes are quick and easy, perfect for busy weeknights. And because I love cooking and experimenting with food so much, some recipes may be a little more complex and include different ingredients. It’s kind of the best of both worlds! 

I also love grilling and smoking meat so you will notice an entire section on outdoor cooking alone! I have a passion for nutrition and try to incorporate nutritious ingredients into all of my recipes; but I am also human and love salt and fat, so there will always be room for the savoury, cheesy, rich types of dishes here! And of course beer! I also dabble in cocktail creations. So, in a nutshell, it’s a little bit of everything, with the main theme – beer!
