National Homemade Soup Day
Happy national homemade soup day! What a great food to celebrate! I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love homemade soup! Homemade soup is something I make a lot in my house – usually to use up vegetables in the fridge or to use up leftovers from big dinners like Thanksgiving or Christmas.
I have had my blog running for almost a year now and I have posted eight homemade soup dishes that are all delicious and are worth rounding up into a new blog post, just to celebrate homemade soup day!
National Homemade Soup Day
The first soup I posted was the hearty kale sausage soup. I love using kale in soups and this soup takes the kale to another level. It really is a hearty soup, with chunks of delicious sausage and a savoury broth!
This soup is more of a pasta with a broth and was featured on Food Networks Great Canadian Cookbook! If you love gnocchi like I do, you are going to love this gnocchi in tomato broth!
When I went to New Orleans in August I had my first gumbo and when I got home I had to make it myself! I don’t know if gumbo is classified as a soup or a stew, but it’s worth re-visiting on national homemade soup day!
After Christmas I used my turkey leftovers to make this delicious turkey ramen noodle bowl. I am now addicted to ramen noodles and am using them for stir-frys too!
I have been hooked on lentil soups for a while and I love my lemony lentil soup! It is the kind of soup that sticks to your ribs and keeps you feeling satisfied for a long time!
My neighbour gives us loads of mushrooms all the time and I am always looking for ways to use them up – chunky portobello mushroom soup is my favourite way to use them and in this recipe I made the crockpot do all the cooking for me!
Beets are by far one of my favourite vegetables and the best way to use them in my opinion is in a beet borscht soup!
Lastly, a classic: chicken noodle soup. You can never go wrong with chicken noodle soup – it soothes the soul, cures illness (that’s my non-medical opinion ;)) and just makes a bad day go good fast!
I hope you enjoy homemade soup as much as I do and enjoyed this round-up of my eight soups that I posted in the past year! Grab a spoon and dig in! Slurping is optional!
What’s your favourite soup?!
