Saison Beer Sauteed Chili Shrimp

Shrimp seasoned and sauteed in saison beer


  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tsp Spanish smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Ancho chilies
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp Morita Chipotle chilies
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp butter
  • 1/2 cup saison beer


  1. Mix all of the spices together into a small bowl and set aside.

  2. Melt the butter over medium heat in a frying pan. Once melted, add in the beer and give it a stir. 

  3. Add the shrimp and sprinkle the seasoning over top the shrimp. 

  4. Cook shrimp over the medium heat, flipping and stirring, until shrimp are pink, about 4 to 5 minutes.

  5. Remove from heat and serve with rice pilaf, plain rice, polenta, etc... 

Recipe Notes

Don't have Morita chipotle? Use any chipotle smokey type of chili powder. 

Don't have Ancho? Use any chili pepper you have. 

Can't find a saison? Find a new liquor store! Ha! Or, try a hefeweizen ... or a plain lager may work, but you will lose the spicy fruitiness.
