English Mild Beer Bread

English Mild Beer Bread

A beer bread is an easier type of bread to make where you don’t have to knead it or let it rise. It comes out a bit more cake-like, but also tasty and …bready! The English Mild Beer Bread took me literally 10 mins to make and then an hour in the oven. The beer has yeast in it that helps the bread rise, which is why you don’t need to add any! Science! Pretty neat!

Strawberry Rhubarb Wheat Ale Loaf

Strawberry Rhubarb Wheat Ale Loaf

If you have been reading Chews and Brews from the beginning, you are well aware that I like rhubarb and like using it in baking and cooking. This Strawberry Rhubarb Wheat Ale Loaf is a recipe I have used before in baking, but adding beer adds some different flavours plus yeast which is great for baking loaves and bread! Pub Snacks Beer Cookie Squares

Pub Snacks Beer Cookie Squares

I tasted every beer they had available (I just…

And creativity aside, I decided to just make the best damn oatmeal cookies I could using this thick, roasty beer.

They haven’t changed their recipe since; however, other versions from Germany, USA and other countries have developed. Enter the Four Star Pils, a Pilsner beer from Goose Island Brewing. This pilsner takes a blend of German and American hops to create their own pilsner style of beer that is crisp, refreshing, tastes of buttery biscuits…

Belgian Fruit Beer Brownies

Here I go baking again… with beer! I’ve baked with beer before – Banana Beer Bread and Milk Stout Chocolate Chip Cookies – both turned out perfectly! I am constantly looking for new ways to add beer to my cooking and baking. When we picked up this Belgian Style Fruit Beer – Cherazz – from Big Rock Brewery, I instantly thought the sweetness of the beer would be perfect in a dessert – and that’s the story of how these…

Banana Beer Bread

Banana Beer Bread

I love banana bread and I think you all know by now that I love beer; so it seemed like a no-brainer to me to make a banana beer bread! This recipe for banana beer bread turned out to be so moist, fluffy and held a lot of both nutty and banana flavours! You can use any beer you might have on hand, but I would suggest a brown ale because they tend to be nutty, malty and loaded with…
