Quick Breakfast Sandwich
Welcome to Chews and Brews – I am glad you are here! If this is your first time visiting Chews and Brews, let me introduce you to the blog. I started Chews and Brews in March 2015, and it has since evolved into a blog dedicated to the delightful intersection of craft beer and food. While I primarily focus on Alberta craft beer, I also share recipes incorporating this beloved beverage or offering suggested pairings.
To my loyal subscribers, thank you for sticking with me! Your support means the world, and I’m excited to share more delicious content with you.
This post is my very first as a food blogger. Although it doesn’t feature beer, it holds a special place in my heart, so I’ve decided to keep it. If you’re here for beer-infused recipes, check out some of my favourite breakfast-themed posts:
- Wake-up Coffee Porter Granola
- Mixed Berry Beer Muffins
- Grapefruit Beermosa

Now, let’s dive into the quick breakfast sandwich that started it all. Please forgive the less-than-stellar writing and photos – we all start somewhere!
The Joy of Breakfast
There’s something truly special about breakfast. It’s the meal that kickstarts your day, fueling you with energy, and setting the tone for everything that follows. Whether you’re a fan of sweet or savoury, breakfast offers endless possibilities. For me, it’s a time to enjoy simple, delicious food that’s quick to prepare but never compromises on flavour.
Today, I’m sharing one of my go-to morning recipes—a quick breakfast sandwich that’s both satisfying and easy to make. I make breakfast sandwiches a part of my morning meal plan every week. These are perfect for those busy mornings when you need something tasty to grab and go. Let’s dive in!
Quick Breakfast Sandwich
Start your day right with this easy, delicious, and satisfying breakfast sandwich. Perfect for busy mornings when you need a quick and tasty meal on the go!
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup egg whites
- 15 g two small slices light cheddar cheese
- 1 slice Canadian bacon or breakfast ham
- 1 English muffin
- cooking spray
Instructions
-
Spray a frying pan with non-stick spray and heat it over medium heat.
-
Pour the egg whites into the pan. Let them cook for about 3-4 minutes, then flip them over.
-
Add the ham to the same pan and cook until heated through.
-
While the eggs and ham are cooking, toast the English muffin.
-
Once everything is ready, assemble the sandwich: Place a slice of cheese on each half of the English muffin, then layer with egg, ham, more egg, more cheese, and top with the other half of the English muffin.
Additional Ideas:
- real bacon

- jalapeño havarti
- goat cheese
- gouda
- green pepper slices
- sauteed mushrooms
- a slice of tomato
- shredded lettuce
- mashed avocado
- make it spicy – add Sriracha or Franks!
