Quick Breakfast Sandwich
Welcome to Chews and Brews – I am glad you are here!
If this is the first time stumbling across Chews and Brews, let me tell you a little about the blog. It was started in March 2015 and has evolved into a beer and recipe blog. I post about craft beer. And mostly Alberta craft beer. This post you are in is my very first post as a food blogger and has nothing to do with beer. But I can’t bring myself to delete it since it was my very first post. If you are interested in something that was made using craft beer, check out some of my favourite posts (breakfast-themed since that’s why I am assuming you are here):
- Wake-up Coffee Porter Granola
- Mixed Beer Beer Muffins
- Grapefruit Beermosa
- Oatmeal Stout Oatmeal Cookies
Now, onto the quick breakfast sandwich, complete with all the shitty writing and horrible photos (insert block of cheese in plastic wrap and baggy of meat photo). I don’t even care how bad this is!
I am starting this little blog with a post about the first meal of the day – breakfast! I love breakfast! It’s the best meal of the day, in my opinion, and I love this breakfast sandwich!
I have made some yummy meals to start the day before, but this breakfast sandwich I am about to tell you all about is quick, simple and super tasty! It has been a part of my morning almost everyday and I am not sick of it one bit! It’s just that good! And did I mention quick? I am up at 5:00 am and leave the house at 6:15 am; and I still have time to get ready and make this sandwich daily! I hope you enjoy!

Quick Breakfast Sandwich
These are the ingredients I use:
- ⅓ cup Egg Whites
- 15 g Light Cheddar Cheese (cut into two slices)
- 1 slice Canadian Back Bacon (I buy mine from Costco)
- 1 Homemade English Muffin (You can use store-bought too, of course!)
Spray a pan with some non-stick spray. Pour your egg whites into the hot pan – once they have turned white and are not liquid anymore, flip them over and add your back bacon to the pan.
Drop your sliced English muffin into the toaster. Watch your eggs and bacon and flip if necessary. When your English muffin pops, put a slice of cheese on each side; add your egg and bacon (I cut my egg in half so I lay a piece of egg on each cheese slice, and the bacon in the middle).
Enjoy your quick breakfast sandwich!!
Quick Breakfast Sandwich
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup egg whites
- 15 g two small slices light cheddar cheese
- 1 slice Canadian bacon or breakfast ham
- 1 English muffin
Instructions
-
Spray a frying pan with non-stick spray and heat.
-
Pour egg whites in and let cook. Flip when ready, about 3-4 minutes.
-
Place ham in same frying pan and cook. Meanwhile, drop English muffin in toaster and toast.
-
Once eggs, ham and English muffin are ready, assemble into a sandwich; English muffin top, cheese, egg, ham, more egg, more cheese, English muffin bottom.
-
Enjoy!
You can add other ingredients too – or substitute. Ideas:
- real bacon
- a sausage patty (try this chicken sausage patty!)
- back forest ham
- jalapeño havarti
- goats cheese
- green pepper slices
- mushrooms
- a slice of tomato
- avocado
- make it spicy – add Sriracha!
What did you have for breakfast today?
